Evaluation of our website picking process.

www.ucsfhealth.org/education/who_can_give_blood

There were several things we had to consider when choosing this website as we didn't want one that would be biased on the opinion of blood giving nor did we want one that was OTT and going off topic. The things we took into consideration were :
  • The website address - It had .org in it therefore it's an organisation and so it wouldn't be opinion based, but fact based.
  • Who's it by? - It's from the University of California and therefore has academic knowledge so it wouldn't be incorrect information, and if it was it wouldn't be incredibly far from the truth.
  • Recent? - It was updated last on august 2011 therefore it's new information and so it's valid.
  • There's a contact number, address and email address if we need to contact them for any particular reason and gives us a peace of mind regarding whether or not it's a hoax.
  • there is also a feedback page and search bar at the top.
Overall this website is a good one to use in regards to donating blood and the restrictions. However, it does have a few cons. It's not aesthetically pleasing in any way as it's quite bland, and it's also not very good for young beginners because it's not especially inviting with bright colours and such.

Me, Myself and I.

Hiyaaaaa Luv.

I'm Bekkiie and I'm 18 years old. I come from a small town called East Grinstead in West Sussex, England. I'm a first year studying Educational Studies at Swansea Metropolitan University and I hope to do a PGCE afterwards alongside with a British Sign Lanuage NVQ. My reasoning behind this is because I want to be a primary school teacher teaching deaf children. This has always been my ambition in life because my family are all deaf minus my younger sister. I like body modification so I have seven tattoos and a few too many body piercings! although I hate needles I love the outcome! I dye my hair too much and I'm a bit reckless when it comes to taking care of it haha. I like chicken tikka curry, wetherspoons, bow and black and a nice sunday roast! I have four cats at home called Tiger, Flopsy, Jasper and Ginger and they're lovely! I also have five goldfish that one of my best friends brought me for christmas :)
below is a photo of me and my siblings, and me with my cats!

Back home I have a big group of people that I call my best friends. They're my support network and have helped me incredible amounts these past few years and I miss them incredible amounts. I cant wait until christmas to go home and see them all!

when i was 11 i got pushed over onto a bicyle and cracked my hip bone, I then ran and fell over a pothole and broke my hip! although the more technical term is a "slipped femeral eppiphisis"  I then spent six weeks in a childrens hospital in Brighton and had my hips pin. in 2007 I had one pin removed and got diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis after several tests. This means that my hip is prematurely dying and crumbling away when I walk. Therefore in January - ish time I'll be having a hip replacement! Yaaaaay! :) (below is a cheeky snap of a recentish x-ray, here you can see the different in length and damage to the ball and socket joint.)
apart from the hip marlarky I'm quite a happy little chappy!
