So today I finally sat down with all my project stuff and whacked out 12 pages for it!
I'm a little concerned however because it's quite plain, but I'm going with the theory that less is more as the photos do actually speak for themselves, and of course it is a visual communication project, so that ties in perfectly.
I'm yet to print out my bubbl.us of original ideas which I'm going to stick in the front of my sketch book, and then my opening statement of why I have decided to do my project on hands! The pages I have done are similar to the pages I've inserted below - As you can tell they are quite simple, however each page shows the different ways we use our hands without really thinking about it. So, sure, we use our hands to write, pick up a phone and so forth, but we also use our hands to express ourselves, to show how we're feeling, to cover our faces when we're experiencing negative feelings, and so on. Which I believe is a much better way of thinking about how we use our hands!
The above page is probably my most plain page of my entire sketch book so far, and I'm a little bit on edge about how empty it is, so I may insert another image, however this picture is of two of my best friends, so for me it has a happy, personal element which makes this photo a little bit more deep and meaningful than it really looks. I also noticed that my friend Jack is incredibly happy eating an apple, whilst my friend Hannah looks a bit confused eating pringles, not a planned photo, it's just a photo I found on a camera from NYE's but it really did make me giggle!
So yeah, so far so good and alls well in a days work.
I'm doing my sign language part of the sketch book now, and I have to get images from the artist I have chosen in which I'm going to write about as well, however he does ASL paintings rather than BSL, but nonetheless it is still viable and easy to understand to those who aren't at all in knowledge of Sign Language.
